Are you a victim of KASTLEA’s (Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency) extortion or any other inappropriate behaviors? If yes, then, the following judgment against the agency might be of interest to you. I copied it from a WhatsApp group whose author is not indicated in the message but whose veracity I confirmed from a seasoned lawyer.
“This morning judgement has been delivered in favour of a Legal practitioner against KASTELIA in the case of Mohammed Danjuma Abubakar, Esq. V. Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) & Kaduna State Government Suit No. KDH/KAD/1409/23.
The Applicant is a lawyer and a legal practitioner.
The Court held that it is unconstitutional and illegal for KASTLEA marshals to remove the Applicant's car plate number and it's unconstitutional for KASTLEA marshals to fine the Applicant and to force him to pay the fine without having recourse to a Mobile Court.
This judgement is phenomenal to us in the realm of human rights. It is now an authority that KASTLEA lacks power to lose any car plate number and to jump in any impounded car, and, everyone accused of a traffic offence has a right to fair hearing.”
